I do not believe it is possible to be more over the top than what this trailer indicates. Looks like good silly fun.

Hehe. I played Prince of Persia when it was a side-scroller, on my 486.

Seriously, though, Jake Gyllenhaal? You can't tell me there were no available actors of something remotely approaching the appropriate ethnicity, or do the producers seriously think they couldn't sell a movie with a non-white-guy in the lead? Was Oded Fehr busy or something?

I am less bothered by it here ironicly because the game series itself did not feature a character that looked particularly like the ethnicity he is supposed to be. Gyllenhaal actually looks like the character from the games. I guess I blame the source material producers more than the movie ones in this instance.

I am bothered more by that in the upcoming Avatar the last Airbender film. The source material featured not one Caucasian character or even bad attempts to make everyone Caucasian in appearance despite what the cultures should be.. They looked Asian or Inuit in the cartoon and the cultures were Asian, but a lot of the actors they cast for the live action film are about as white European as you can get.

The same thing happened in the live action TV adaptation of Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea trilogy. The author, whose background is in cultural anthropology with a side of social justice, was horrified, and she wrote a couple of interesting, enjoyably snarky reviews.
